For over nine years I have worked in public education in middle schools in Texas. Working with pre-teens and teenagers has made me keenly aware of discovering hidden emotions with my teenage clients.
Confidentiality with teen clients is a high priority to build trust. In our initial intake, I will discuss with both parents and the teen what will and will not be discussed with the parent. My goal is to promote communication within the family and work with the teen on his or her needs.
